KEARNEYCYCLES.COM Connacht MTB League

The Kearney Cycles Connacht Mountain Bike League had its final round in Moorehall Co.Mayo on Sunday last. The turn out was small but this did not deter the riders and there was some good battles in the various groups. Eamon Staunton Westport fought hard to hold off David O’Loughlin Cong in the Elite group. Donal Kelly Galway Bay took the expert section from Garry Collins Western Lakes and Joe Carroll Galway Bay who broke a chain at the start fixed it and finished in third place.

David Gallagher U/A held off Fergus Treacy Covey Wheelers Westport C.Cin the sports section and Fergus went on to win overall in the League. William Sheridan Covey Wheelers Westport C.C. and Fergus Kearns Dolman C.C had a great battle with Reg Cowie U/A with only seconds apart for all 5 laps, Kearns held on to take the honours in the novice section and Damien Gavin Covey Wheelers Westport C.C. Francis Sheridan Covey Wheelers Westport C.C took the under 16 age group and also the overall in the League.

The battle of the day was between Shane Mulchrone Covey Wheelers Westport C.C and Philip Comerford Predator Tri Club they raced side by side for all four laps and Shane had a bike length at the line to take the win at under 14.

Under 12 Daniel Gibbons Cong was his usual consistence self and took the lead from the start and did not give Ross McGrath Cong a chance to catch him.

Lydia Sheridan Covey Wheelers Westport C.C took the lady’s section.

Michael Sheridan Covey and Jenny Gourlay Castlebar C.C were neck for their three laps on the short circuit but Michael took the win.
