James McGreavy continues with his recent good form by taking 47 points in Round 7 of the Western Lakes v. Westport Covey Wheelers. Having recently won the Tom Bourke Open Race he now moves into 5th place overall.
Rnd 7 was held in conjunction with the Mayo County Championships which saw Sean O’Malley of Western Lakes move into the Overall lead. Michael Brady and Ger Corcoran drop to 2nd and 3rd respectively. Michael was unable to make the race and Ger punctured again! The O’Connell brothers have slipped out of the top ten and there are a number of Coveys on the fringes including Francis Sheridan, James Fitzsimmon and the Youth duo of Sean Flynn and Damien Gannon.
Westport Covey Wheelers still lead in the Team Classification with 2006pts versus 1891pts for Ballinrobe. With only 2 Road Races left the pressure will be on to retake our stronghold on this league in the next few weeks.
There is also the potential to mop up points in the Most Improved categories in the Hill Climb and Time Trial in September.
Below is the updated League table.
