This year as part of Paddy’s weekend, Westport Covey Wheelers will be hosting 2 cycling events. The first of which is The Mickey Palmer Time Trial on the Saturday 17th March followed by The Bourke Waste Ras Mhaigh Eo on Sunday 18th.

The Mickey Palmer Time Trial Challenge is a 35km Individual Time Trial, a race against the clock. Starting at The Skate Park on the West Road heading for Louisburgh cyclists will start off at 9.30am at one minute intervals. The turnaround point will be at Old Head where competitors will be required to negotiate some tight turns before opening up the engines for the journey back to the finish line beside the garden centre. With a limited number of starting times available cyclists are being urged to pre-register by contacting westportcc@gmail.com. Entries are set at 10 euro and there will be prizes in all categories.
