The Markievicz Cup was held in Coolaney Co.Sligo on Sunday last, a large turnout of cyclists went to the start line, as the race was handicaped, first off were the A4 which included Ger Corcoran and Cormac Cadden from Covey Wheelers they were followed by A2 & A3, the small group of A4 worked well and by lap three were reduced to four cyclists and on the next lap they were further reduced and now with only three riders the work load was very hard and the the 5min lead this group had over the main bunch was reduced to 3mins with two laps to go time came down to 1min,then a break went from the bunch which included Mick Brady Covey, and they were on a short distance from the leaders, but as they came to the line the three A4 stayed away and Kenneth Berry Lakeside Wheelers took the win from Ger Corcoran Covey Wheelers, Westport, with Paul Kehoe Innisfree Wheelers a short distance back in third place.
