A great day for Ras Mhaigheo
It was a tough but fair route for all competitors leading out towards louisburgh and across to Ashleigh falls then turning left into Liscarney taking the right turn for Aughagower and finishing on the outskirts of town on the Ballinrobe rd. The main race itself was full of excitement with the A1/A2 riders just pulling back the 2 minute handicap from the A3 riders just before Ashleigh falls. There was a couple of breaks but to no avail, the decisive break came when David Brennan and 5 others attached one of the climbs. The 6 man group managed to stay away from the chasing pack. On the final climb into Aughagower David Brennan again attacked and Charles Prendergast when with him. On the sprint for home the two were head to head but unfortunately Charles crank broke with in sight of the line. David Brennan took the victory, congrats! The racer’s would like to thank the organisers, sponsors and all who helped on the day.
