‘Bourke Waste’ Ras Mhaigheo 2013
This year as part of Paddy’s weekend, Westport Covey Wheelers will be hosting 2 cycling events. The first of which is The Westport Credit Union ‘Mickey Palmer Time Trial’ on the Sunday 17th March followed by The Bourke Waste Ras Mhaigh Eo on Monday 18th.
‘Bourke Waste’ Ras Mhaigheo 2013
The Westport Covey Wheelers CC are holding the Ras Mhaigh Eo on Monday 18th March 2013. The Ras Mhaigh Eo has been a big success over the last few years however we have chosen a more testing route this year with 3 categorized climbs to contend with, 2 of which featured in the Ras Tailteann 2012.
The race headquarters will be Race Headquaters will be at the Castlecourt Hotel.

Route: Westport, Leenane, Tourmakeady and return to Westport.
A1/2/3 Race
Starting on the Leenane Road the race will head for Leenane village, turn left up the first climb approx 2k, turn left again at Kilmilken for the 2nd climb known as Aille Dubh before riding over Maam Trasna and down into Tourmakeady. The race will be pretty flat from there into the finish line outside the Train Station on the Ballinrobe road, Westport. See map here.
Riders will rollout from the Castlecourt Hotel at 11:30 to Holland’s Filling station on the Leenane Road for a 12:00 start.
A4 Race
The A4 race will run over the same route but the course will be neutralized for the first 10k making it a 78K race with the same climbs. The A4s will rollout from the Castlecourt at 11:45 for an 12:15 start at Hollands filling station on the Leenane Road.
Underage Race
There will be 3 races for U16, U14 and U12 run on a circuit course around Aughagower village. Sign on at The Castlecourt Hotel from 8.30 – 9.30am. Starting line outside the Westport Country Lodge hotel with the finish line on the Ballinrobe road before the Railway bridge. Entry fee 5euro.
One day licenses
1 day licenses will be taken on the day.
Presentation & Prizes:
Showers will be available in the Castlecourt Htel leisure complex. Refreshments will be served 3.30pm approx.
The usual top 6 in the A1/A2/A3 race.
Top 3 in the A4 race,
Cycling Ireland points for top 8 placed riders.
1st Unplaced Junior, 1st Lady and Top 3 in U16, U14 & U12.
