The 2021 Strava League came to a close last week with the final round taking riders on a difficult route up the back of Croagh Patrick to the Mayo Mountain Rescue Base. Like every round over the six weeks, riders had to choose the best day to tackle the Timetrial with wind being the biggest obstacle. Strategic planning was important if riders were to get the crucial points on offer for each round!
The Strava League was the brain child of our Race Rep Bryan Hyland who designed short Time Trial segments which our members could complete in their own time throughout the given week. The segments could be found on the Strava App and times were automatically uploaded to our members page once the course was completed.
Due to Covid 19 and the restrictions that were in place, the league was a great solution in keeping our members active and fit while staying safe! In the end the league was won by Dara Clarke and Hillary Hughes who were joint on points after the six rounds. With the event being such a success we look forward to future Strava fun and our members are now ready for the real thing with the Covey League kicking off this week!
