Connacht Cyclocross Victory for Eamon
The inaugural Connacht Championships were held this Sunday 4th Jan 2015 and it was perfect conditions on a great course in Westport House. The grounds have many natural features suitable to this kind of event and the course was technical in places but made for good racing.
The coveys cleaned up in the underage categories with some tight finishes in the respective races. A huge haul of medals were had by the Covey underage (Listed below in results) so well done to all involved there. The big win of the day went to our very own Covey, Eamon Staunton who took it all in his stride despite puncturing during the race and recovering to take the win comfortably from Paddy Clarke.
Westport Covey Wheelers would like to thank Westport House for all of their assistance and the use of their grounds to host the race. The club would also like to thank all of those who helped in preparation of the course, timing, compiling of results, marshalling, and the presentation venue Tommy Bourke’s bar who had a great spread of food laid out and all those who help in the cleanup of the course afterwards.
