Ballinrobe 2day (August 10th & 11th), the race now in its eighth year and has gone from strength to strength with racers from all parts of the country and abroadcoming to the lake side town to take on the undulating terrian.
In 2011 two teams from across the water Liverpool century and St Helen’s squads helped livened things up. The UCD team had a close call when the limited groups managed to hold the H/cap till the last lap of the race and only in the dying kms did they close the gap to secure the overall win in the indivdual and teams classements.
This event is one of Ireland’s only Handicapped stage race, allowing every participant a fair chance of success.
The race is sponsored by Marrey Bikes of Ballinrobe for the third year in a row,
This 2 day event is open to all categories except A4’s (seperate race for them on Sunday the 11th starts after stage 2b at 1.15pm.
Ladies and juniors (U18) can be competitive against the A1’s riders as there is a handicap system in place on Stage 1 and stage 2b.
This stage race has all the frills with jerseys, Yellow (Overall) Green (Sprints) and Polkadot (Mountains) plus 4 perpetual trophies and cups for stage and overall winners, we try and cater for every category with €2000 in prizes.
Ballinrobe town will also be holding a festival around the race, so expect the Queen’s of the Mask to be on show, the Ballinrobe Horse races are on the Monday the 13th so why not make a weekend of it and throw some of the winning on a few horses.
The race starts on Saturday the 10th of August at 3pm with an 85k hilly road stage.

Sunday there are 2 stages,
stage 2a is an 7k TT, 9am start,
Stage 2b starts at 1pm with 4x20k laps through the town centre each time..
