West Coast Wheelers C.C. Annual Road Race 2013
The West Coast Wheelers annual road race will take place on Sunday 24th February 2013. As last years 100 racers will attest, the lumpy circuit over Derrybrien on good roads (for Connacht!) ensure a safe race, and a good early season workout. The race will be headquartered once again at the Temperance Hall, Loughrea.
A4 Circuit/Rollout
The A4 race will run over the same 55K course as last year over Derrybrien mountains, with approx 300 metres climbing. There’s one long climb on which the KOH will be decided.
The A4s will rollout from Loughrea at 11:00 for an 11:30 start.
A1/2/3 Circuit/Rollout
A1/A2/A3 – In order to ensure we can run a longer race for this group, and stay within a manageable area, the race circuit has been adapted to ease management and also provide a sufficient test.
The race route will start/finish at the same point as the A4 race. At 45K, after the climb and decent of Derrybrien, the riders will take a left and join a 15K loop which they complete twice before rolling off it again and heading for the finish line.
This brings the race distance to 85K with 500m climbing.
Riders will rollout from Loughrea at 11:30 to Kilchreest for a 12:00 start.
