1 Life Cycle. Westport – Dublin – Westport

[UPDATE]
The 1 Life Cyclists will be holding a Pub quiz on Tuesday the 25th in the The Westport Plaza Hotel at 9:00pm to help raise money for 1life. For more details, click here.

On Saturday 29th September 2012 the 1 Life Cyclists will set off for a 500 kilometre cycle from Westport to Dublin and back! They hope to raise awareness of the plight of suicide. On average over 500 people die from suicide every year in Ireland for the last ten years, having a devastating effect on hundreds of families.

By endeavouring with such a gruelling cycle of 500klm over 2 days they hope that the ‘awareness campaign’ will help to inform people of all the good work the various groups and charities do, such as 1life and Console.

While the group is largely made up of Covey Wheelers and Castlebar Cycling Clubs the 500km will surely test them. After a number of tough training sessions over the last few weeks the signs are good and all they need now is a tail wind on both days!

If you would like to donate a few bob to the 1Life Charity Cycle log onto 1lifecycle.ie or contact Keith on 087-9042421, you can also follow on Facebook.

Watch the interview with the three men who organised the cycle, PatJoe, Keith and Aidan, who talk about why they’re taking on the cycle, and the importance of suicide awareness.
