15K TT Results 1st Sept 2011
Western Lakes / Covey Westport club league.
In the 15k time trail from Ballinrobe to Kilmaine and back the biggest improver was our own Keith Hastings from Slaugher Westport taking a monster 6.20mins off the time he did away back in March. Sean O Malley Western Lakes who made huge improvements taking 5.19mins off his previous time. Third on the night was another Covey Jack Halpin, he took 4.51mins of his March time.
All 3 are new to racing and its great to see the improvements over the 5 summer months.
After 11Rds of racing the league is still wide open, there are still 6 riders who can win the league.
Mark Quigley, Western Lakes, who has lead the league since round 7 still leads on 197pts but he can still be overhauled as he didn’t participate in the hill climb or Time Trial back at the start of the league in March.
Hindsight is a great thing but now all he can do is wait as the results by the other contenders will be outside of his control.
If either Michael Brady, Kieran Heneghan, Padraic Hughes, Brendan Scullion or Padraig Marrey are to win then they must beat their respect time on Lally’s mountain that was set in March and to top it of they have to get in the ten best improved times on the night, its a tall order but if they are willing to suffer then the reward could be great.
To date over 120 cyclists took part in the league with an average turnout per night of 35.
This league began 4 years ago and both clubs have prospered since its inception.
Last round (12) takes place on Thursday night Sept 8th, sign on from 6.15pm at O Toole’s bar Tourmakeady, first rider off at 7pm, times available afterwards in the pub.[Download not found]
