Ennis Duathlon

The inaugural Ennis Duathlon was held on Sunday 3rd April in Lees Road Sports & Amenity Park.  The course started with a 3k trail run through the adjacent forest followed by a 14k cycle in windy conditions and finished with another run through the forest.  There were 167 entrants in a wide field ranging from elites, age groupers and a Triathlon Ireland Youth Development Squad to first-timers, mothers and local club members.

The short course meant a fast race and the first run was finished in under 9 minutes by Mike Yelverton quickly followed by Westport’s Con Doherty and Ennis Tri Club’s own Patrick Quinn.  While there were many battles behind, this remained the order of the top 3 finishers.  The first three females home were Derval Devaney, Andree Walkin & Maebh Hurst.
